This week had me experience the most amazing highs and the grossest lows. Funny how you can go through such a range of emotions in just the space of 7 days.
Largely induced by life with teenagers, I have to say… It is real shit show at times! How do any parents survive this? Like for real? that’s all I will say about it.
Aside from watching the kids play at a Fine Arts Festival and a brilliant French picnic that displayed enough of saucisson and Camembert to feel and smell like home, the rest of the week turned out to be pretty boring really and it had me already question why I decided to do this mini vlog weekly…
Anyway, I will push through and rest assured that I will forgive you for not paying attention if watching me push a cart through Target is not your thing.
So yes, there’s been countless grocery store trips and yet we seemed to always miss something at home.
When I wasn’t refilling the snack cupboards, batching breakfast waffles, walking the dog or Uber-ing one of my kids somewhere, I spent hours glued to my desk migrating websites, breaking them and fixing them with the help of Juan and Ricardo, my two friends at my new hosting company.
We have developed a pretty close relationship now and somehow it has been the most human interaction I have had this week with a husband that stayed long hours at the office to oversee a move and kids who, most days, walked through the door grunted “hi”, grabbed a snack and disappeared to their rooms… this is the reason why Jasper and I have such a close bond and why I am starting to feel that for my own emotional well-being, I totally need another golden retriever.
This week was also “stick collection week” and C always takes this so seriously that he cuts half the trees in the backyard to make sure they have plenty to collect. All the while I sit indoors and worry about him catching a branch on his head or falling off a ladder.
And shall we talk about the monster cold that made its way through each member of the family? The number of rapid tests done only to confirm that “yep dude, it’s just a cold”?
The boxes of tissues that seem to disappear the minute you put them down?
Anyway, it is with immense pleasure that I take over just in time for a long Memorial Day weekend…
