This is where a new journey begins.
So, it is going to sound very weird, or pointless to some but I need to share this with you. A couple of weeks ago, I had reached the end of my tether with everything social media. Like, what the F Instagram, I don’t want to create only video content for the privilege of it being shown to 5 people including my own mother. I am fed up of trying to strategize everything and losing that precious connection with actual human beings.
I was moaning about the fact that it was ridiculous that no one had stepped up on this market to create that platform that so many of us were craving for. A place that would feel like we are blogging the old fashion way. Like when everyone was setting up a Blogger account for their hobby, their pet, their kids! OMG the kids, all the ones born at the same time blogging rose to fame who had their potty training story told to the world! My kids are some of them. What were we thinking?! That’s another story.
It was also a time when the word Algorithm didn’t exist. Well you know what I mean, it already existed but only for the benefit of Mathematical Wiz or the likes.
And.I.kid.you.not, just the same day I received a newsletter from another disgruntled creative who was announcing she was moving away from Instagram and onto Substack. My first reaction was obviously to say “Sub-what?” and then I opened my browser only to discover what I had been looking for for a very long time!
So here we are! And to begin, I would like to invite you to read the About page where you will find out a bit more about what to expect here.
The short answer is probably a bit of everything. I am done trying to niche the crap out of life and work. I understand that it is supposedly good for marketing and sales, except that this is reductive and boring. Aren’t we all multi layered people? And isn’t it more interesting, pleasing and fulfilling to get to know people on many of these layers? I personally think so.
So you will find some creative and artistic content, embroidery news, probably some home content, most definitely a lot of pondering and musing about life in general.
Whatever comes to the mind of a peri-menopausal, mother of teens, living an expat life in the suburbs of Chicago and growing a creative business.
I have plans for spaces dedicated to French Mango and The Handmakers Academy and I will share these very soon but for now, if you like what you see, I encourage you to subscribe so that you receive all the updates directly into your inbox because who would want to miss that anyway? Not my mother, for sure.
Super-excited to see you on Substack Peggy!! You’re so right, it’s such a throwback almost to our OG blogging days, but new and with lots of extras and ways of connecting! Yay!!!! (Also ❤️ your logo!!) 🇫🇷 🇬🇧 🇺🇸 i🎉✨ 💕
